Omar Yunes was named as the Best Franchisee of the World (BFW) for the year 2015 in an event hosted by Florence, Italy on December 5, 2015. Omar, the franchisee of Sushi Itto, was given this honor in recognition of his unparalleled input in the growth of the Japanese food chain. He joined the organization as a franchisee in his early 20s and has since managed to establish himself as the brand’s icon. He had 13 franchise units to his name as of December 2015, an equivalent of 10 percent of the total franchises owned by Japanese food chain. These units employ over 400 people and are located in the major cities of Mexico, such as Veracruz, Mexico City, and Puebla.
Omar was awarded in the presence of representatives from over 34 nations. France, Hungary, and Portugal represented the European continent while South America had Argentina and Brazil. In the same event, Ivan Tamer of franchisee of Prendamex was named as the runners-up in the Mexican Chapter. Patricia Campos, the brand’s franchise manager, praised Ivan’s commitment to improving his franchise and the network in general.
What the Executives Had to Say
A lot of considerations were made before reaching the winner. Factors, such as employees’ motivation, brand improvement, and influence level of a franchisee were all factored in. With such considerations, Omar led in not only the overall award but also in the national qualifier. According to the event organizers led by Diego Elizarrarras, Omar won these awards for he had positively changed the operations within the brand. Diego said that Omar had shown impeccable skills in managing the 13 franchise units. He reemphasized how the Mexican franchises had won the bragging rights both in Mexico and internationally.
CEO Benjamin Cancelmo of Sushi Itto on his part said that the awards were appreciating the cordial franchising-franchisee associations that exist between the brand and its franchisees. He further said that the relationship had brought about better customer service.
