Editorial principles
Stop Carbon Lies is a new, India-focused publication on climate claims and environmental issues. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
Evidence and sourcing
We link to original documents, datasets, research or clearly identified sources wherever possible. We separate evidence from interpretation and explain relevant uncertainty.
How we check a claim
- Find the original claim: who said it, and what exactly was stated.
- Review the evidence: research, data, context and expert sources.
- Explain the finding: show the reasoning and any uncertainty.
Fairness and right of reply
Before publishing significant criticism of a person or organisation, we make reasonable efforts to present their position accurately and to seek a response.
Corrections
When we get something materially wrong, we correct it promptly and add a visible correction note to the article.
Independence and funding
We will disclose relevant funding and conflicts of interest. Any sponsored or funded content will be clearly labelled and will not influence the conclusion of a fact-check.
