Privacy notice
Last updated: 30 October 2026. This notice explains how Stop Carbon Lies (“we”) handles personal information collected through stopcarbonlies.com. At present we collect personal information only when you subscribe to our newsletter.
What we collect
- Your email address.
- The time you gave consent, and the exact consent wording shown on the form.
- Your IP address at sign-up, used to prevent abuse.
- The time you confirmed your subscription and, if you leave, the time you unsubscribed.
- Whether emails to your address bounced.
Why, and on what basis
We use this information to email you a confirmation request and, once you have confirmed, our newsletter. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How sign-up works
After you submit the form we send one email containing a confirmation link. You are not added to the newsletter list until you click that link and confirm. If you did not request it, ignore the email. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days.
Unsubscribing
Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe we keep your address, marked as unsubscribed, so that we do not email you again by mistake. You may instead ask us to erase it completely (see “Your rights”).
Who handles your data
Subscriber data is stored on a server we operate on Amazon Web Services infrastructure. Emails are sent from our own mail server and may pass through an email relay service acting on our behalf. We do not sell or rent our subscriber list and do not share it with advertisers.
Third-party content and cookies
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and some images from Unsplash. When your browser fetches them, those providers receive your IP address and browser details. At the time of writing, this site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
Confirmed subscribers: until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribed addresses: kept as a do-not-email record until you ask us to erase them. Unconfirmed sign-ups: 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, or withdraw your consent. If you are in India, you may also have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including the right to complain to the relevant authority.
